From ancient times clay has been used as a natural ingredient for maintaining skin beauty and health, while in the last few years it has regained its popularity as an indispensable ingredient for treating various skin conditions. Women in ancient Egypt used clay as a youth elixir, but as well for youth appearance of the skin. 

Due to its anti-inflammatory and purifying properties, clay is nowadays mostly used for natural cosmetics. Although clay can come in various colours, the green type of clay is particularly recommended for oily and combination skin since it helps to remove excess sebum and by doing so, reduces imperfections.

Ingredients:

Green clay (illite)

Suggested use:

In a glass or wooden bowl, add 2 or 3 tablespoons of green clay to a little mineral or floral water (roughly 2cm above clay). Leave to stand for few minutes and mix well to obtain a creamy, smooth paste.

Facial mask: Apply a thick layer of the clay, even around the eyes. Leave for 10 minutes and rinse with lukewarm water.
Hair mask: Spread evenly over the scalp. Leave for 10 to 15 minutes and rinse thoroughly. 
Bath: Dilute 300g of green clay in your bath. Relax in the bath for 20 minutes. Rinse with clean water.

Warning:

For external use only. Do not allow the clay to harden completely. If in eyes, rinse thoroughly.
