Buckwheat origin dates back to 8,000 years ago when it grew spontaneously in Tibet and Siberia. After that, the Tatars came to know the Balkans, and from there it began to spread all over Europe. The name of the buckwheat (the Turkeys and Saracens) is a tribute to the Turkish-Mongolian heritage.
