For those unaware, ajvar is an eggplant-sweet pepper mixture, sometimes referred to as vegetarian caviar. It is served as a relish, side dish or spread on country-style white bread as an appetizer. Its smoky flavour is a great match for grilled or roasted meats, especially lamb.
