Dates - Barni 1kg Almadinah

Dates are the oldest cultivated fruit in the world, thought to be indigenous to Northern Africa and Mediterranean. Their name originates from Greek word daktulos meaning finger, thus alluding to their shape. Dates are nowadays very popular due to their exquisite nutritional profile. 

To preserve the juiciness of dates without the addition of artificial ingredients, these Barni dates were first sun-dried and naturally preserved to eliminate any possibility of the presence of bacteria. The dates are then vacuumed in quality plastic packaging to ensure there is no contact with the air. When packaged in this way, Barni dates maintain their freshness for a very long time.

Dates are very sweet (containing 55% of sugar while fresh, becoming much more concentrated when dried), and mixed with water they are perfect sugar substitute. They offer excellent natural source of energy. Unlike refined carbohydrates, level of energy will not drop soon after dates are consumed. All due to the fact that sugar from dates is naturally connected with soluble fibre, therefore sugar release is much slower. 

Almadinah Barni dates are medium sized dates with a firm, long body. When ripe, they  have a deep golden brown exterior. Known for its particularly memorable rustic texture and after taste, the Barni are fibrous, mildly sweet and easy to bite through.

Suggested use:

Dates can be easily chopped and diced without becoming too mush due to their drier nature. They can be used in bakery foods such as breads, raw cakes and cookies, added to cereals or eaten as a healthy snack. Perfect alternative for artificial sweets.
