Chickpeas are a leguminous, protein plant and a high-value food for human consumption. The seed is similar to soybean seed or dried peas, it is light brown in colour, and is used as a stew or as an addition to other vegetables for cooking.
In Eastern countries, chickpeas are ground into flour and baked into pastries or mixed in a certain ratio (10 to 20%) with wheat flour and baked into bread. The most popular oriental chickpea speciality is roasted chickpeas, which are nibbled like popcorn or pumpkin and sunflower seeds.
